Hourglass Femme Rouge in Fawn

Four stunningly flattering shades were released into the Hourglass Femme Rouge lipstick offering recently. I picked up Fawn during the Sephora VIB sale.  I've never tried any Hourglass products before and it was a nice opportunity to try it out.  I am cheap and opportunistic!

The lipstick is a substantial weight and feels very luxe.  The bullet slides up smoothly to reveal the Hourglass icon engraved on the side.  To me the whole product looks very sleek and retro, but still modern with its art-deco looking logo and ultra-clean looks.  While I'm not much of a stickler for ingredients, it is formulated without parabens, sulfates, phthalates or synthetic dyes (so read on the Sephora website).  To me, it has a very light vanilla scent that is similar to a MAC lipstick in the bullet, but I don't notice it when I wear it.  Apparently, these things are refillable, though I hardly ever finish anything completely to warrant buying a second one, refill or not.

It really is very creamy on application but on the thicker side.  While wearing it, I don't think it has a particularly moisturizing effect but does not dry out my lips.  The finish is a very refined glow and is not very glossy.  I find the wear time to be fair and not particularly long lasting, but does fade evenly away.  It's not a particularly weightless formula; I can definitely feel it sit on my lips during the day.

The best thing for me about this item is this gorgeous color.  This really is a MLBB (my lips but better) shade for me.  Actually, I lie!  I have very pigmented cool-mauve toned lips so I think a MLBB for me would be like a dead-person mauve.  But Fawn actually compliments and brightens my warmer yellow toned face right up.  The cool tones of my lips turns the color into a more rosier hue than what you see on my arm swatch.  On my arm, you'll see warm peach coming through, especially in the direct sunlight.

Have you tried the Femme Rouge lipsticks from Hourglass?  I am very happy to own one of these beauties.
