Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in Beach Grass RD299

I think you know already I am loving my two new eye shadow singles in Alchemy and Serpent.  With a big gift certificate in my hand, I went the Shiseido counter where a really fantastic SA showed me the new items from Spring as well as sharing the inspirations for the collection.  During this trip, I also picked up the new Perfect Rouge and the Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer, but I also got my hands on the new eye shadow trio introduced for Spring, Beach Grass.

In the pan, the shades kind of look more suited for a Holiday collection and definitely has some passing resemblance to the Guerlain eye shadow quad Turandot.  I passed on that one thinking it was much too close to a Le Metier de Beaute Kaleidoscope that I own.  You can see Turandot there, too.

So why did I get Beach Grass?  Beach Grass has a very delicate sensibility that I thought was so well suited for Spring.  While my Silk Road is super pigment dense and rich, Beach Grass brings a color story that is executed with a much softer hand.

The trio has three shades, and all have varying levels of shimmer.  The first color, is a warm eggplant purply mid depth color.  The middle shade is truly spectacular; it looks a warm gold that has a lighter shimmery overlay on it.  Actually it is a glorious sophisticated duo chrome.  The white is a smooth warm creamy white with subtle golden shimmers.
What really struck me using this was really how delicate these colors were and also how soft the actual shadow was.  Be gentle with them!  I fear my inherent clumsiness will lead to eye shadow breakage!

Some swatches to show this really pretty trio.  I don't think these pictures do justice to this special palette.  Look at the middle gold.  Do you see how the top is a brighter gold and the middle to bottom is a golden purple?  That's that amazing duochrome shimmer effect of this shade.

I think the picture below shows how soft the shimmer texture is on these shades.  The white is such a soft white that provides a very subtle contrast to the colored shades.
Unlike my LMdB Silk Road, everything in the Shiseido Beach Grass trio is light as air and has such a soft (but still spectacular) gleam.  Oops, am I raving?  I've tried a few placements based on the expert advice on Makeupalley (hi guys!).  I think my favorite is the dark purple applied on lid up to crease and lower lash line.  Then applying the golden color on the crease and blended slightly into the purple.  The white was placed on the brow bone to softly highlight.  It's a pretty nifty and flexible palette, each shade can be used individually in other looks, worked in  pairs or easily used with all three shades.

If you think Shiseido is too boring, I urge you to check out your local counter!  So far, I've really been enjoying my items from Shiseido and Beach Grass is no exception.

Is Shiseido is a mainstay in your collection?  I'd love to hear about it!
