Rouge Bunny Rouge Long Lasting Cream Eye Shadow in Chiffon Ringlet & Atlas Swallowtail

As you know, I am a big fan of Rouge Bunny Rouge's eye shadows.  They also offer a small assortment of cream eye shadows.  Today,  I'm showing the two I have which are both in wearable neutrals: Chiffon Ringlet & Atlas Swallowtail.
A very simple black plastic tube holds the creamy contents and has a small doe foot applicator.  The applicator pulls up a nice amount of product and the applicator is alight firm and looks a bit fuzzy.
I was drawn to these so that I can use it as a quick swipe-and-go eye shadow option.  Both Atlas Swallowtail and Chiffon Ringlet are easy neutral colors to do just that.
Rouge Bunny Rouge describes Atlas Swallowtail as a
"Satin wash of nude taupe with pewter reflections; buildable to darker, more opaque and metallic greyish hue of the same colour"

and describes Chiffon Ringlet as a
"Semi-sheer satin mauvish chocolate with copper reflections; buildable to darker, more opaque and metallic hue of the same colour."

I tried to build up to show the opacity in my swatches and tried to capture the more metallic tone that was mentioned, but both sheer and and built up swatches remained satin.  While the colors are great basic colors, I find both the finish and performance very utilitarian.  It lasts well on the lids and blends well and sets.  It does work well as a wash as I originally intended, but I can't capture (in pictures or on my lids!) any complexity to these colors and feels a bit boring to me.
Slightly angled to better show the finish:
I guess neutrals by definition are kind of boring.  I find more success (in terms of look) by using these colors as a base shade, and then layering either my powder or loose powder eye shadows on top of them.

Are cream eye shadows a part of your regular rotation?  What do you use them for and which are your favorites?

This checks off another item on the work list!
