A Few Days Off

I'm unreasonably proud of this misshapen bouquet.  I went out this evening and clipped these flowers from my garden.  The calla lilies are little buds and I wish they've opened up some more, but I'm so pleased that they've grown into actual flowers from my very tentative adventures in gardening.

Tomorrow is Independence Day and a wonderful day of celebration.  I hope each of you in the US will enjoy the holiday.

I plan on tying the pink ribbon around the bouquet and will be bringing this to the cemetery.  This week marks the one year anniversary of the death of my beloved father who had suffered over twenty years with Parkinson's disease.

While the July 4th holiday is now forever linked in my mind with a loss, I have some tiny but meaningful comfort that  I get to bring him some pretty flowers from a house he's never gotten to see.  I think he would be bemused to see that his daughter grew something from the ground!  I miss him terribly.

Don't worry I will be back to regularly scheduled blog programming in a few days.  Happy 4th of July!
