East Village Sights

It was a lovely warm day and I went on an outing.  East Village used to be grungiest of the grungy Manhattan neighborhoods.
It's quite a mind bender seeing it so very gentrified.  If there is a Chipotle there, it is pretty dang gentrified.
It retains a bit of its old character and charm though.
Of course the day was largely about food.

We rolled along back to St Mark's Place and had some dessert:
They had a large table set out where they were assembling some confections:
The above turned into this, a molten chocolate cake with some delectable oozing green tea center accompanied by green tea ice cream.
We walked over to nearby Alphabet City

Even a densely populated city has its natural habitants.  Cute sparrow in Thompkins Square Park.

Either an exhortation to come into the hot dog restaurant or something filthy
No hot dogs were eaten, but takoyaki was scarfed up.  Unfortunately, the takoyaki was eaten too quickly to be photographed.

Hope you each had a wonderful weekend (and a long one for those in the US)!  Monday time!
