SUQQU Balancing Cheeks in Yawakohaku 03

>>the product featured in this post was provided free of charge by the brand/pr for my consideration<<

As I write this post, the snow is falling thickly on this first day of Spring.  It is a rather dubious start to the season.  *silent seething*  It IS very spring-like however, when I get to play with the colorful oranges and pinks of the Chiffon inspired SUQQU SS15 collection.  Special thanks to the brand for allowing me some feeble hopes that Spring might actually arrive.  (will it?)

I particularly loved the fresh juicy looks of this blush Yawakohaku 03, which is a permanent addition to the SUQQU blush line up along with a second shade Mizuhanamoya 04.  (I'm still playing with 04)  This blush with two pans, a pale pink paired with a sheen-rich orange is what I will feature today.
I love this very unusual combination of shades, which has the option of wearing each side alone, or combined.

  • The left side pan is a pale warm, satin pink.  As with my experience with most SUQQU products, the texture and feel on the skin is wonderful.  It is however, very lightly pigmented and I think people expecting rich color payoff would be disappointed.
  • The right side is a pale orange.  Reminds me of ripe apricot in color.  It has a very strong golden sheen on the skin which I find intensify the more I buff and blend.  And because it's a rather pale color, while it imparts color on the skin, it also acts like a soft orange highlighter.
  • The blended shade (the swatch on the very right) is a more subdued version of that apricot shade.  Again, the sheen in this one is still pretty strong.

You've seen me wear this blush a few times, but I had worn it in my post on the SUQQU quad 18 Sakuraori.  I don't think you can see much of the sheen on my face, but it is readily apparent in strong lighting.  It is not glittery by any stretch of the imagination, but it has a definite glow to it.  And if you are trying to get some building of color for intensity by applying a lot of the orange shade, you will get the sheeny highlighter effect.
Orange highlighter?  My skin is probably at its palest for the year coming out of a cold grey winter.  While I find it shows up on my skin just fine (and will for those among you on the paler side of things), if you are significantly darker than me (I am NC15-20-ish), you may see more of the sheen and less of the color.
Yawakohaku is a really delicate compliment to the SS15 collection, enhancing the soft oranges and pinks in the eye shadows from the collection.  I would have liked to have seen more pigmentation in this case and a tick down lower on the sheen on the apricot shade.  The strength of the sheen limits the everyday versatility to me.
I think in general, the formula of the Balancing Cheeks N (the official product name) has some of the prettiest skin-loving texture, but doesn't have strong pigmentation.  You can see my post on the other two earlier color release from the range here.  Particularly with blushes, I think strong pigmentation can always be moderated with the brush and application while it is more difficult to build up color to more intensity.  Unlike the THREE blushes that I own, which I do find easy enough to layer for more color, I don't find it as easy to do so with these SUQQUs.    You can also see it on Sara from Color Me Loud here.

The quality and texture are top notch, as usual.  And it is wonderful to see this unusual and gorgeous color combination in Yawakohaku.  I think it would be even more beautiful with more intensity and maybe a bit less sheen for versatility for more skin tones.

SUQQU is available at Fenwick of Bond Street, Harrods, Selfridges and Selfridges on line.   It is currently available on line at Selfridges (here) and Ichibankao (here).
