Updated Brow Post - Featuring New SUQQU Products

Updated Brow Post - Featuring New SUQQU Products

I tend to stay very faithful to the SUQQU Balancing Eyebrow Palette in Moss Green.  The middle shade is a soft cool brown that suits me well.  I also like the easy-to-apply level of pigmentation.  It's difficult to go overboard and end up with brows that look drawn on.  You can see a post on the palette here.

SUQQU is well known for their great eye brow products.  In particular, they are justifiably famous for their brow pen (Eyebrow Pen R), often featured by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge on her videos.  When I am feeling the need for a bit more definition on the brows, I like a combination of the brow palette + pen (applied to sharpen up the arch, fill in any gaps and elongate the tail),

SUQQU recently revamped the brow product offering including adding more shades!  This is a wonderful thing, but on the Japanese brand website, the Eyebrow Pen R is no longer in it (Serious UH OH) while it is on the English language global website.  What does this mean?!

Anyway, back to the expanded brow offering, there is now a brow mascara (Volume Brow Mascara), a new brow pen (Framing Eyebrow Liquid Pen), along with the usual brow palette (Balancing Eyebrow palette).  I was curious to see what the new products and some of the colors were like so I purchased a few.  It created a nice opportunity to show you the products.

Powder - Balancing Eyebrow Palette

I own it in 01 Moss Green.  It is also available in a variation with warmer tones - 02 Brown.  Obviously mine is well used.  Unfortunately, the left side brown shade is a bit warm, though useable.  Of course, with a perfectly wonderful cool brown next to it, I always prefer (and use) the middle shade!  The right pan is a contour shade, with which the enclosed brush makes a decent (if slightly warm) shade for contouring the nose.

Pan, sexy sexy pan.

Liquid Pen - Eyebrow Pen R (original pen) & Framing Eyebrow Liquid Pen (new pen)

The new Framing Eyebrow Liquid Pen has a wider color range (Khaki, Brown, Camel and Grey).  I assumed that Khaki is a stand in and identical to Moss Green and that the Brown is the same brown as the Brown in the old pen, but after trying out the new pen in Grey, I'm not sure this will be the case.  I guess it I were a more committed (and cash rich blogger), I would have ordered the Khaki pen to compare with my old Moss Green, but I didn't.

Dualing SUQQU brow pens!

The pens are DIFFERENT!  dun dun dunning!  The new Framing ones are longer and has a color coordinated cap to indicate the color.  The brush is fine as the old one, but stiffer than the old one.  What that means is that it is possible to draw even finer with the new one, but the pigmentation is totally off the charts (compared to the old one).

Oy!  Look at the pigmentation difference.  Obviously grey is not a brown like the cool brown of moss green, but what is a sheer watercolor wash of the old pen is a richer, deeper pigmentation in the new one.

A con of the old pen was that if I wanted to do my whole brow with just that one product, it took a long time drawing and drawing and drawing enough to show definition.  The new Framing pen can make quick work of it, but also look like too much for my taste a bit too easily.

Brow Mascara - Volume Eyebrow Mascara

I think this is a nice line up for SUQQU.  Many brands have brow mascaras, and with the inclusion of a clear shade, its great for a quick easy one-step brow routine or added to other brow products for even more oomph.  I picked up the Khaki.

The brush picks up too much product (as I learned from my friend Nicole @nanica) and should be wiped off.  Otherwise I get crazy dark fuzzy brows.  It also has a satin finish that isn't too glossy or shiny looking.  It does set the hairs somewhat, but true to its "Volume" name, it adds some body to the individual hairs and gives a slightly textured and natural look.  The pigmentation is quite strong, so a small amount of product gives the most natural look for me.

It is a fairly large applicator.  I prefer a smaller one, but with its fine pointed tip, it is easy enough to maneuver.  Speaking of large, my Jung Saem Mool one is comically large (and bulbous)!

Here's the SUQQU Eyebrow Mascara compared in shade to the JSM and RBR.  Khaki is a good cool shade though to my eye, somewhat less green than Moss Green.

Used alone, the Volume Eyebrow Mascara gives a bit of extra color without a ton of definition -- very natural.

Rounding Them SUQQU Up

For laughs I used the powder + new Pen + mascara at the same time.  While not exactly of the Instagram type, it was definitely more than what I'd wear on a regular basis.

What's in your eye brow routine?  Do you use more than one product on a regular basis?

I thank heavens for my giant forehead which allows me ample space to label my eye brow swatches.
