Guerlain Rouge G in Girly
It’s weird. Sometimes I’m overcome (in a makeup emotional kind of way) with nostalgia for old things. I think it’s a bit of a backlash against all the new better improved and MORE than inundates us everyday. It’s hard to be a beauty lover and keep a firm hold of old loves when our attention is constantly pulled towards new releases. Take the Rouge G lipsticks from Guerlain for instance, also lovingly monikered Space Tampons (I didn’t make up this hilarity). These lipsticks have a light but classic cream formula and also among the first (maybe even very first?) to break the $50 price point for a luxury lipstick. Guerlain did a good thing, I think. They discontinued these silver monsters and re-released them with customizable cases. Today, I want to show off my old school old style Rouge G in Girly.
I had a long-term and low-key obsession with Girly. It’s an intensely bright pink with coral tones. Some years ago Driveller Kate had sent me a sample which I long used up. I ended up buying this brand new one fairly recently on Overstock.com at a discounted price and I’m so glad it is back in my life.
I feel like this is a shade that can be the type to wear ME instead of me wear IT. But it makes a beautiful statement lip when applied full pigment and also can be worn blotted down for a bright stain. It’s just so darn glorious and glam in an easier way than a red lip. I feel like it brings the rest of my facial features into sharp focus that Girly looks best on me with minimal makeup.
Of course, beauty blogger minimum is still a lot of makeup slathering. I’m wearing Westman Atelier Foundation (Shade 3), SUQQU brow palette in moss green, Westman Atelier blush stick in Petal, Pat McGrath Labs Permagel Ultra glide eye pencil in xtreme black, Guerlain maxilash wp mascara, and a bunch of Rouge Bunny Rouge matte eye shadows.
I think my photo is skewing a little cool below.
Do you have one of those old favorite, face brightening shades? (Maybe even Girly?)
